Join me for a week of art, food, friendship, and fun

September (15-22)

Our workshop in 2025 was wonderful and I am excited to return. With our guide Patrick Mahoney, we will experience the best that this lovely hilltop Tuscan town has to offer.

We will draw and paint the colourful town piazza, its charming narrow streets, viewpoints overlooking churches, and vineyards heavy with fall harvest. We will visit renowned nearby sites like Sienna and explore classic Tuscan countryside.

A combination of plein aire and studio time, we’ll be working on different papers and with watercolours, and coloured mark making tools (watercolour crayons, pencil crayons, and oil pastel, coloured pens) on a variety on papers. 

This way of working helps with the fear of jumping into the new white pages of a sketchbook ;) and loosens up our drawings and paintings, allowing us to be experimental and choose the work we love to curate into our own personal Cortona concertina books, capturing the essential qualities of a magical place.

An American, Patrick Mahoney fell in love with Cortona, and moved there 25 years ago. His intimate knowledge enriched our experience immensely, as he shared his favourite time tested local restaurants and introduced us to special places and people.

I have taught workshops at home and abroad for 20 years. This is one of the best experiences I have had!
